Why storage matters
Most tarnish and scratches happen when jewellery is not being worn. Open air, humidity and pieces rubbing against each other all wear plating and dull stones. A good storage habit can add a lot of life to your jewellery.
The 5-step storage routine
- Wipe: remove sweat and oils with a soft dry cloth.
- Dry: make sure pieces are completely dry, including clasps.
- Separate: one piece per pouch or compartment.
- Seal: use zip bags or a lidded box to limit air.
- Protect: add silica gel or anti-tarnish strips and replace them regularly.

How to store jewellery for months
For festive or wedding pieces you wear a few times a year: clean and dry each piece, seal it in its own airtight bag with a small silica gel sachet, label it, and store the bags in a closed box in a cool, dry room. Check them every few months, especially after the monsoon.
