Miayaa pieces are crafted from brass, sterling silver and alloy bases with gold or rhodium plating, set with crystals, cubic zirconia and gemstones. A little everyday care keeps that shine going for years.

Everyday care

  • Put your jewellery on last when getting dressed, after make-up, perfume and hairspray.
  • Take it off before swimming, bathing, exercising or sleeping.
  • Keep it away from perfumes, lotions, hairspray and household chemicals. They can dull the finish and damage stones.
  • Wipe each piece with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing to remove skin oils and residue.

How to clean your jewellery

For most pieces, a gentle wipe is all you need. For a deeper clean:

  1. Wipe it down

    Use a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils and residue.

  2. Clean gently

    Use a soft toothbrush with mild, soapy water. Skip this step for pavé, crystal and pearl pieces.

  3. Rinse and pat dry

    Rinse quickly and pat dry straight away with a soft cloth.

  4. Dry completely

    Make sure the piece is fully dry before you store it.

Storing your jewellery

  • Store each piece separately in its pouch or box to prevent scratches and tangles.
  • Keep jewellery away from direct sunlight and humid places such as bathrooms.
  • Add an anti-tarnish pouch or strip to your jewellery box for extra protection.

Gold-plated and rhodium-plated pieces

Plating is a fine layer of gold or rhodium over the base metal. Our pieces have an anti-tarnish finish, but water, sweat, perfume and chemicals can still dull plating over time.

Keep plated pieces dry, wipe them after wearing, and store them away from air and moisture to keep their colour and shine.

Pavé, crystal and cubic zirconia

Pavé settings and crystal details need a little extra care. Do not soak them in water, as this can loosen settings over time. Clean them only with a lightly dampened soft cloth, and avoid knocks against hard surfaces.

Pearls

Pearls are delicate and porous. Wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth and never submerge them in water. Store them separately from metal jewellery so their surface does not get scratched.

Mangalsutras

Handle your mangalsutra with care, especially around the pendant setting. Store it flat or hanging to prevent the chain from kinking, and clean it with a soft, dry cloth.
